Biography of Joy Butler
jbutlerJoy Butler is the Director of Women's Ministries and has a passion for helping women who are hurting.

She has served the church as a chaplain in Sydney, a teacher in Victoria and Tasmania, and has lived in Papua New Guinea, Western Samoa and Africa.

She is married to Bob Butler and they have 3 children, Marlon, Emma and Ryan.

She also has an ongoing relationship with an abandoned African child, named Taurai.

Her greatest desire is to encourage women to have a closer walk with Jesus and to use their God-given gifts to spread His love to their own families and to the community in which they live.

"75% of illiterates living in the South Pacific are women," reports Joy. "We are supporting programs - mainly in Papua New Guinea and among Aboriginal communities in Western Australia - to lower this rate."

The department also supports abused women and children refugees and provides annual scholarships for women studying at Seventh-day Adventist tertiary institutions.

The Department of Women's Ministries and Prayer Ministries also produces Going Places, a free newsletter for women, produced bi-monthly.
