Illiteracy
The United Nations says that in the world today there are one billion adults who cannot read. Most of these are women. They cannot read a Bible, help a child with homework, or read the instructions on a medicine bottle. Neither can they fill out a work application.
The Seventh-day Adventist department of Women's Ministries is supporting programs - mainly in Papua New Guinea and Aboriginal communities in Western Australia - to help increase literacy among women.

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) in Papua New Guinea, runs a literacy program for adults. To find out more about this program visit their website at http://www.adra.org.pg/literacy.html or contact -
