Adventist Church pumped up to pray for relief

On 2 August, Seventh-day Adventist Churches throughout New Zealand will be praying for families struggling financially because of rising fuel prices.

“Rising fuel prices and high interest rates are causing enormous financial strain on many families,” says Pastor Jerry Matthews, president of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in New Zealand. “It’s time we take action and send out a special appeal to God to watch over all of us who have been affected by a higher cost of living.”

The Adventist Church in New Zealand is asking all church members to pray for relief for families who are struggling financially, for advances in alternative-energy sources and for more responsible use of the world’s natural resources. Community members are also invited to join in prayer.

Churches are also encouraged to ask members to bring canned food and blankets to church, and organise for the collection to be forwarded to local charities or food banks.

Seventh-day Adventist churches in New Zealand will commence praying at 11.30am (NZST), ensuring that everybody in the country is united in prayer at the same moment.

There are close to 100 Adventist churches in New Zealand with more than 11,000 members.

Adventist churches in New Zealand will commence prayer at 11.30am on 2 August.
