Pacific Adventist University (PAU) is a modern international University established by an Act of Parliament in Papua New Guinea in 1997. It began as Pacific Adventist College in 1983 and since 1997 has proceeded on as a University. Students and faculty come from many nations across the Pacific region and beyond.

PAU is a co-educational boarding and day university. Koiari Park, the 487-hectare estate of Pacific Adventist University is situated in a peaceful rural setting, located 14 miles outside of Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea.

Accreditation

Pacific Adventist University is a member of the Association of the Seventh-day Adventist Universities and Colleges, and holds current accreditation with the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges, and Universities. PAU courses are also recognized in most Pacific countries, including Australia and New Zealand. Although a young tertiary institution, PAU graduates receive full academic credits at all Papua New Guinea universities and in an ever-increasing number of international universities for post-graduate courses not offered at PAU.

Students

Students come from as far as Egypt, Hawaii, Canada and New Zealand to study. Many of them return to their countries of origin to serve as teachers, business professionals, pastors and serve professionally in other fields that they have been adequately trained for.

Staff

The staff at PAU are highly qualified, academically and with experience, to effectively instruct and guide students in their respective fields of study.

There is a mix of international lecturers from Bulgaria, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and within the Pacific region - providing broader educational experiences.

Spiritual Life

Students are encouraged to study the Bible and develop personal relationship with God. Each student is expected to have an active personal devotion program and attend daily morning and evening worships.

There are organised Friday evening and Saturday worship programs set for the PAU community and all students, staff and faculty are expected to participate. The PAU Koiari Park Church also gives opportunity for students to serve in responsible positions in the church.

Staff and students are given the opportunity to volunteer their services to the local communities. A number of outreach groups are set up, that go out into the community, to teach, encourage, and uplift.

Work - Study Programme

A work-study programme is set in place to help students learn how to carry responsibility and cooperate with others. Students are assigned to work departments, which are intended to develop their skills and provide useful practical experience for the future. The work done by students helps the University to operate economically and subsidises some of their school fees.

Some of the Work Departments at the University are the Administration Office, Building Construction, Business Office, Campus, Clinic, Computer Labs, Dining Hall, University Commercial Farm, Janitorial Services, Library, Maintenance, and Workshops- Mechanics.

Academic Facilities

The main Library Building houses the University Library along with the Administration and Business Offices.

The University has two lecture theatres, three main computer labs and various classrooms and offices housed within the Theology and Barnett House blocks as well as the Industrial Technology building.

Recreational Facilities

PAU has playing fields equipped with night-lights for soccer and rugby touch games. These fields are also used for other major events of the University. There is a basketball court, which also acts as a volleyball court and tennis court. Plenty of social activities are organised each semester for the students.

Communication Facilities

An Internet and Emailing service is provided for students for a small fee in the Library. Public phones are situated within easy access and regular Postal services are available.

Shopping

A Mini-Mart provides basic grocery items for the PAU community on campus at affordable prices. There is also a Book Shop, which sells textbooks, stationery, and other supplies needed by every student.

PAU is near the city; students may book a seat on the University buses to go on shopping trips on Thursday and Friday afternoons.

Accommodation

There are currently two dormitories for single men and two for single ladies. There are also four villages with 1- bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom modern houses for married student families. Faculty and Staff also live on the Campus.

Fulton College

entranceThe educational services of Fulton College span the island countries of: Fiji, Tonga, Samoa, Tuvalu, New Caledonia, Cook Islands, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Vanuatu and the Solomon Islands. Its services are also offered to Pacific Islanders, and other interested individuals, living in Australia, New Zealand and overseas.

Fulton College is a co-educational boarding institution situated on the eastern side of Viti Levu, the main island of Fiji. It is approximately 45 km from Suva on the King's Road. The College campus is set on a 100 acre property near the township of Korovou. Within a kilometre of this is a 300 acre property utilized for cropping and dairying.

Accreditation

Fulton is accredited by the Accrediting Association of Seventh-day Adventist Schools, Colleges and Universities (AAA).

  • Diploma of Theology is accredited by the South Pacific Association of Theological School (SPATS)
  • Diploma of Primary Education is recognized by the Education Departments of the countries of the central southern region of the Pacific
  • Bachelor of Primary Education is granted by agreement with Pacific Adventist University, Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.

Students

Students from 20 different Pacific national groups come from as far west as Papua New Guinea to Tahiti in the east and from the Marshall Islands north of the equator to New Zealand in the south. After receiving training as teachers, pastors and business professionals the students disperse to the far corners of the Pacific where they serve the island communities, bring honour to God and adding to the excellent reputation that Fulton College enjoys throughout the Pacific region.

Staff

The staff members are qualified, academically and have a range of experience, to teach in their respective subject areas. They come from various countries and are therefore able to draw on an array of unique insights and perspectives - providing students with a broad educational experience.

Spiritual Life

The development of a personal spiritual life in Christ is the ideal held before each student. Students are encouraged to have regular devotions as well as attend daily morning and evening worship periods during the week, the Friday evening and Saturday worship programs. These spiritual activities are a definite part of the College programme, and all students are expected to participate. The Fulton College Church also provides opportunity for training in every phase of church organisation and activity by appointing students to positions of responsibilities in the church.

Work-study Programme

Because of the beneficial effects of a balanced programme of work and study, all boarding students do eleven hours of work per week in addition to their study programme. The work done by the students enables the College to operate economically and thus helps reduce fees.

Work departments at the College include:

Campus, College Store, Farm, Dairy, Electricity, Fruit Growing, Greens Garden, Janitorial service, Kitchen and Cafeteria, Bakery, Library, Roads, Mechanic Shop, Office, Repair and Maintenance, Residence halls, Staff home help, Nursery, and Security.

In the work programme students learn valuable skills, gain experience in co-operating with others and carry responsibilities and develop an understanding of the importance of faithfulness and taking care of equipment, products, and facilities.

Academic Facilities

The main administration and classroom block includes a library, chapel, science laboratories, computer rooms as well as general classrooms and offices. Separate buildings house facilities for typing and lecture theatres.

Recreational Facilities

Playing areas, some of which have night lights, are available for athletic activities and team games such as basketball, volleyball and soccer which are organized on a friendly basis among students and staff.

College Store & Book Shop

The College Store stocks general groceries, stationery, and a variety of personal items for the convenience of students and staff.
