Our Worship Philosophy
Seventh-day Adventists choose to worship God because we believe He is our Creator and the source of all life.
Exodus 20:11 says " in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy."
That is why we hold our worship service every Saturday. We believe that Saturday is a special day set aside for humanity, since the beginning of the world, to spend time worshipping and honouring God. We can worship God in many different ways. It can be through Bible study, prayer and singing praises to Him. We can do this at a personal level or meet together with fellow believers.
Adventists believe that the Bible is the written Word of God. It was divinely inspired by the Holy Spirit and is a revelation of God's will for humanity. For this reason, Adventists believe in the Bible and the Bible only. All our teachings are biblically based and the Bible is used to test all religious doctrines and views. We encourage all our members to study the Bible daily. Every quarter a Bible Study guide is given out and it can also be accessed online (View Bible study guide). The study guide focuses on a particular topic that is broken up into daily Bible studies. Programs such as prayer meetings, small groups, church camp meetings and seminars are held on a regular basis to encourage people to study the Bible, learn more about God and to uphold His teachings.
The Bible calls us to tell everyone about God, His unconditional love for humanity and the gift of eternal life He offers to everyone. As a worldwide church we are actively involved in ministering to people who do not know God. Our pastors and church members hold seminars on prophecy, lifestyle issues and biblical facts. Adventists broadcast Christian programs via satellite, television and radio and we manage organisations that are focused on ministering to the needs of people. We also encourage each member to take a personal role in fulfilling the call to proclaim the gospel by living a life that exemplifies Christian values.
By worshipping God, we aim to bring glory and honour to Him, as our creator and friend. As Christians we are called to set an example and follow the teachings of the Bible.
