More than170 Australian Union Conference (AUC) delegates and staff gathered at the Parkroyal Monash hotel in Melbourne, Victoria on August 31 for the opening of the regular constituency meeting.

The meeting, which occurs once every five years, is an opportunity for local church members, lay people and conference leaders to review the progress of the Church and its mission across Australia.

During the next five days there will be leadership appointments, departmental and conference reports, discussion of recommended amendments to the AUC constitution, as well as discussion on four special focus areas: the AUC strategy for the next quinquennium, Church Next, ordination and Australia for Christ 2028.

The evening featured praise and worship led by Sandra Entermann followed by a devotional by AUC president Pastor Terry Johnson, a time of prayer and the opening of business by AUC general secretary Pastor Jeffrey Masengi.

Delegate Pastor Kira-Leigh Josey from Caboolture Adventist Church in South Queensland expressed her excitement about the upcoming meetings: “I’m looking forward to hearing reports from what’s happening across the country but also thinking really strategically about the way we can spread our message even further across the next quinquennium.”
