More than 400 church members and leaders were inspired to be creative and innovative in their worship and outreach at the fifth Creative Conference, held from August 16 to 17 at Gold Coast Central Seventh-day Adventist Church.
The event, organised by South Queensland Conference communications media officer Charmaine Patel, featured a series of keynotes, practical presentations and workshops by Adventists who use media and creativity in their professional or personal spheres.
Across three sessions, attendees enjoyed presentations from Matthew Nicolson (initiative), Kristina Savka (confidence), Pastor Jared Martin (app development), Cindy Sykes (performing arts), Joanne Donaldson (hospitality), Dr Joe Azzopardi (intergenerational), Beth Beaden (children’s ministry), Manasa Faatoe (emotional healing) and Pastor Casey Wolverton (courage).
On Sabbath afternoon, attendees were encouraged to participate in workshops featuring guest speakers Kalan Howse (photography), Pastor Casey Wolverton (speech coaching), Glonaida Quiapon (digital art) and JP Martinez (worship leading).
Ms Patel reflected on the inspiration gained from the event, “We are so blessed to have amazing, talented, creative people in our local churches who can empower us to be more creative in our local churches and ministries. We were inspired to dream bigger, to lean into the Spirit’s promptings more and to harness courageous creativity to advance God’s Kingdom.”
Recordings of the conference are available online on the South Queensland Adventist YouTube and Facebook pages.
