Pastor Sylvia Mendez, Women’s Ministries director at the Australian Union Conference (AUC), has been appointed as the new Adventist Mission and Women’s Ministries director for the Trans-European Division (TED).

Her appointment was voted on July 10 during the TED caucus at the 62nd General Conference Session, which approved the Division’s Nominating Committee’s recommendations for directors and associates to serve for the 2025–2030 quinquennium.

Pastor Mendez has served in Women’s, Family and Seeds of Faith ministries at the AUC for the past six years. She has also led initiatives such as The Worship Project, which launched across Australia. She holds a Bachelor of Ministry and Theology and is currently completing an MBA from Avondale University.

“This was a huge surprise,” said Pastor Mendez. “I am so grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow and serve, and I can’t wait to see God lead the way. I am excited to be part of the Trans-European Division and to see how I can support the mission in this part of the world.”

AUC president Pastor Terry Johnson welcomed the news of her appointment. “On behalf of our entire AUC team, we are thrilled for Pastor Sylvia with this new expanded ministry endeavour,” he said.

“She will be challenged with the role and grow as God equips the called. Pastor Sylvia will do a wonderful work on behalf of the kingdom, sharing the three angels’ messages in the secular environment of Europe. We look forward to seeing how God magnifies her ministry there.”
