More than $A3800 was raised at a fundraising concert held at Filipino-Australian Seventh-day Adventist Church on June 1 to support a Pathfinder Camporee at the Nile Union Academy in Egypt.
In response to the request from the Egypt-Sudan Field (ESF), a group of volunteers from across Australia and New Zealand will be travelling to Cairo from June 21 to July 7 to run the event.
Organised by some of the volunteers from Melbourne, the concert raised funds for the purchase of materials and supplies to support the camporee.
Musicians and singers from across Victoria performed at the event, including the Melbourne Adventist Youth Choir, The Commissioners, Solomon Island Boys and Tino Tusitala.
“Getting involved with Pathfinders had such a positive impact on my life growing up in the church. I’m honoured to give back to the community and serve other pathfinders across the globe,” said Glonaida Quiapon, one of the Melbourne volunteers who was at the event.
With more than half of their goal already raised, the team now has $A5000 left to reach their fundraising goal.
