Preparations are underway for the EnditNow Emphasis Day and Rally on August 23, with churches across Australia being encouraged to join the global movement to end violence against women, men and children.
The initiative, coordinated by the women’s ministries department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, invites churches to take a united stand by raising awareness, offering support and taking action. The rallies will follow the annual online summit, scheduled for August 22.
Greater Sydney and Victorian conferences are planning to host their own rallies on August 23, led by women’s and family ministries leaders.
To support the initiative, the department has released a suite of new resources, including referral lists, flow charts, a church self-assessment guide and an EnditNow booklet for pastors, church staff and volunteers. A teen and school edition has also been produced for chaplains, guidance counsellors and teachers.
A new EnditNow Australia website is set to launch in August and will host a range of domestic violence awareness resources and event details.
“As Adventists, we are called to speak up for the voiceless and protect those who are vulnerable,” said Sylvia Mendez, director of women’s ministries in Australia. “EnditNow is more than an annual event—it’s a movement. We’re calling on every local church to join us in creating safe spaces, both within and beyond our walls.”
