Serving Humanity, Fulfilling God’s Intent

The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Australia serves humanity so all may live as God intended – free from poverty and disadvantage.

About ADRA

Together with our supporters, volunteers and Seventh-day Adventist Churches, ADRA improves the health of people and communities, provides livelihood opportunities to families, and assists people affected by disasters. As the humanitarian agency of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Jesus’ example of justice, compassion and love motivates us. (Micah 6:8)

Justice, so that all people may experience life to the full.

Compassion, so that together, we can break the cycle of poverty for the most vulnerable.

Love, so that as Christians we live out our faith to make the world a better place

OP SHOP

ADRA has over 30 Op Shops around Australia. Each volunteer-run ADRA Op Shop is often established in collaboration with a local Adventist Church and exists to provide quality products at affordable prices. Further, surplus funds are funnelled back into local community ADRA projects.

FOOD HAMPERS

ADRA programs across the country provide food hampers to disadvantaged Australians who would otherwise go without. With the increased cost of living and long-term fallout from COVID-19, the demand for ADRA’s crisis food hampers has rapidly increased.

Emergency Relief

ADRA Australia operates community programs nationwide. Our emergency relief services are available to assist families and individuals who are experiencing hardship and who would otherwise fall through the cracks. Our emergency relief includes crisis food hampers, access to women’s shelters, and community meals.

Disaster Relief

When people are supported before, during and after a disaster, they are more likely to survive and recover. That’s why we work with communities to protect lives, provide emergency food supplies and shelter kits, and rebuild livelihoods.

ADRA works within the three stages of disaster relief: preparedness, response and recovery, both domestically and internationally.

International AID

Overseas, ADRA works with communities in the Pacific, Asia and Africa to bring transformative change. Our work is focused in the areas of health, livelihood, disaster, and education.

ADRA ensures that all members of communities have the opportunity to participate in project activities without prejudice. We seek to build the capacity of overseas partner offices and local churches to help them better serve their communities, and we seek to affirm the importance of environmental sustainability into our development program.
